Dr. B. K. Gupta received his Medical Degree in 1974 from Kasturba Medical College, University of Mysore, India. Dr. Gupta earned his Diploma in Psychological Medicine in 1981 from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in England. In 1982, he completed his Family Medicine training, and was certified in Family Medicine by the Royal College of General Practitioners, England. Dr. Gupta completed his residency in Psychiatry in 1986 from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, Strong Memorial Hospital Rochester, New York.

Dr. Gupta received his certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 1986, Certification in Family and Marriage Therapy in 1987 (University of Rochester School of Medicine) and a Fellowship in Affective and Eating Disorders in 1986-1987 (University of Rochester School of Medicine).

He is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association as well as a member of the American Medical Society of Alcoholism and other Drug Dependence, American Association of Marital and Family Therapy, and a lifetime member of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.

Dr. Gupta’s research interests included; biological markers for depression, neurotransmitter changes in Schizophrenia, naso-pharyngeal EEG in psychiatric disorders, circadian rhythms in affective disorders, and the use of phototherapy in the treatment of seasonal affective disorders.
